Course Rationale
This programme is designed to provide graduates with the skills necessary to analyse and evaluate environmental and public health problems in scientific, technical and managerial terms, whilst fostering the development of an informed, critical and imaginative attitude. The programme is designed to produce high quality graduates whose skills profile ensures that they can be efficiently and effectively employed in a variety of contexts.
Graduates will have received a coherent body of theoretical and applied knowledge, transferable skill development, and a fundamental competency in the fields of environmental and public health, that incorporates the ethical dimension of practice. Focus is upon concepts in environmental epidemiology; looking at assessing how exposure to risk and its management are applied in both local and national responses to public health and health protection issues together with an appreciation of the political, economic, social and as well as legal and environmental issues in which we operate.
